He began his legal career in private practice, including with Tunde Odanye & Associates, before joining Shell in 1991. He also led the legal work associated with the integration of Oman LNG and Qalhat LNG, subsequently becoming the first General Counsel of the integrated business, which generated approximately US$6.5 billion in annual revenue.

Throughout his career, Wale has participated in numerous executive business and leadership development programmes, including at INSEAD. He retired from Shell as Managing Counsel, Commercial.
